Sketchbook Ladies, 1995- 2001

More archiving! These drawings and paintings are taken from 1995's sketchbook 16, when I think I started drawing women curvier than the stupid media's "ideal", up until sketchbook 36 in 2001. (I'd been drawing pin-ups since I was a little kid: Batgirl, Wonder Woman, Cat Woman, Charlie's Angels, Spiderwoman, She-Hulk, etc. It just took me a while to realize that I was attracted to, and enjoyed drawing, more voluptuous women.) Some of these were drawn for assignments, some just for me. And seeing them all at once, I realize how they pretty much all have the same face and body type. I've been putting a conscious effort into drawing women with a lot more variety lately.

new stuff

I figure I should make every other entry here art that no one's seen before....I've been bitten by the archive bug pretty bad lately, and there's tons of old pin-up art to go through and post, but I still want to keep things fresh.
Here's a random burlesque painting I did with very little planning a few weeks ago, using acrylics on a really textured canvasboard with a little fluorescent and pearlized paint added to the background:

I feel like she's a cross between my girlfriend Devilicia and our friend Dirty Martini.
